Rev. Michele

Dear Friends in Christ:

Jesus told the story of the father who lavished his son with gifts: from the family ring and new outfits to a great feast and kisses. The gifts were not earned, simply given and given in abundance. The father gave the gifts from his heart and out of pure love for his son.

For that's what gifts are, according to the dictionary, something given voluntarily without payment in return. And this father, not only gave, but gave his son an extravagant amount.

Like the son, we too, have been showered with gifts. We too, have received an over abundance of gifts. These gifts have been given to us just because we are loved and cherished. And the one who has bestowed on us such a bountiful pile, the one who loves us beyond measure, is our heavenly father, God.

Over the next few weeks, we will be naming and giving thanks for the things that God has given us: from fingers to touch with and sunshine to warm us to friends to laugh with and freedom to choose. We will take time to reflect upon the treasure trove that surrounds us. Gifts given to us not because of anything we have done, but simply because God loves us.

Join us during this joyful time. Bask in the love. Come and be reminded of the generosity of our God.

In Christ,
Rev. Michele +
