Reverend Hugh James Installation as Rector of Christ Church

Ascension Day, Thursday, May 17 2012: A Service for Renewal of Ministry Together with the Installation of The Reverend J. Hugh James as Rector of Christ Episcopal Church.

Dinner begins at 5:30 PM with the Service beginning at 7 PM.

There will be a Champagne Reception following the Service. Christ Episcopal Church is located at 78 Washington Street, Norwich CT.

Sunday, May 6, 2012 @ 3 PM: We were transported to 17^th century Italy with recording artist and director of the Princeton Early Keyboard Center, Gavin Black. With the music of Frescobaldi and Storace, performed on a late 17^th century Italian harpsichord-a rare listening opportunity indeed! A champagne reception followed the program and audience members will be able to chat with Mr. Black and see the marvelous historical instrument up close.

Sunday, March 25, 2012 @ 3 PM: Music in the Key of "G": A Program of New Works by Jesse Nathan Glaude. All programs are Free and open to the public! Champagne reception to follow. Free-will offerings will be accepted to help support the Joanne C. Lillpopp Scholarship Fund: bringing the gift of music to the community. Jesse N. Saturday, March 17, 2012 @ 6:30 PM: Scooby & the Poundhounds Start your St. Patrick's Day celebrations early by supporting Christ Church School of the Arts, a non-profit school that provides private instrumental instruction to the community. Join us for a Benefit Night of Blues, Fusion & Jazz as it is performed in the unique and acoustically rich interior of Christ Episcopal Church. $7 for adults, $20 for families. Scooby & the Poundhounds is - Paul "Scooby" Dubenetsky, William Schramm, Hank Schaeffer, Paul Steinmeyer, William (Barrelhouse Bill) Herrera, & Skip Neumann.

Sunday, January 15, 2012, 5 PM: Haiti Presentation & Dinner Come join us for a good dinner on a winter's night and a presentation by the Rev. Joan Phelps on her recent mission trip to Haiti. The evening concluded with an evening service in the Taize style.

Sunday, January 8, 2012: Confirmation Class The Rev. Joan Phelps lead the class. The class required attending classes, doing the reading and homework and attending an overnight retreat at Camp Washington.

Sunday, December 18, 2011: Spaghetti Dinner & Christmas Carol Spiritual Open Mic The Spaghetti Dinner & Christmas Carol Spiritual Open Mic takes place at Christ Episcopal Church, 78 Washington St, Norwich and begins with Apple Cider & Fellowship at 5 PM, then dinner at 5:15 PM followed by our Open Mic session starting at 6:30 PM. Dinner Menu: Assorted Sauces, Assorted Pasta (including Whole Wheat), and Dessert. Information about Diabetes available and a representative of the ADA present to help answer any questions. Suggested Donations: $5 Seniors, $7 Adults, $3 Children under age 8, and $20 for families. Suggested prices, not required!

Sunday, October 2, 2011: Blessing of the Animals The Blessing of the Animals takes place at 8 AM & 10 AM. To all pets: live, stuffed or pictured:
Bring your human and come to our service as we celebrate St. Francis and the wonders of God's creation. There will be special treats for you and your human. Special note: For small creatures of all kinds cages are indeed welcome. Fish and those among us who might not take well to crowds may want to join us by proxy through a picture or drawing. We have never had an accident in church but should the excitement be too much, equipment will be available for those speedy clean ups. Whatever your species come for the time of your life. October 1, 2011: Public Tag Sale Come to our Public Tag Sale 8 AM-1 PM. Rent a table at Christ Episcopal Church for a donation of $10. All proceeds from table rental will go to buying mosquito netting for areas where Malaria is a severe problem. (Learn more Through Episcopal Relief and Development). Sunday, July 17^th, 2011: Picnic & Fun!. Food, fun, and fellowship. The Interim Rector will supply hot dogs and hamburgers and games. The fun started following the 9 AM service at the church. Water balloons, three legged race!

Christ Church School of the Arts Welcomes Guitar Instructor Paul Dubenetsky

It is our pleasure to introduce CCSArts newest instructor, Paul Dubenetsky. Paul teaches Guitar and Music Theory on Fridays at CCSArts and welcomes students of all ages. Paul has played guitar since the age of nine and has played professionally since the age of thirteen. He has studied at the Woods Music School as well as under such notable teachers as Ron Ciccarelli, former bass player with Ronny Milsap, studied Jazz with Alden Mitchell, and Jazz guitar with Thomas Perrone. He is currently a member of the local group, The Shooting Star band, since 1981. Paul believes that a solid foundation of theory and technique are necessary to all styles of music and can work with a student to develop in the style or genre that they prefer. John Sepowitz recently graduated from Johnson & Wales college in Providence RI with a degree in Culinary Arts and will go on to continue his training towards a degree as a Dietitian.

Joshua Ziemski graduated from NFA was awarded a scholarship from People United Bank.

Erica Sanders and Austin Shirley graduated from 8th grade.

Nicole Smith and Maggie Buckley who both graduated from 8th grade at the Charter School in Norwich.
