Lenten Dinner, Lecture & Taize ServiceSunday, March 11, 2012 @ 5:30 PM: Dinner fee is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for children. Dinner will start at 5:30 PM, the Lecture, "The Passion Chorale: Origins and Evolution" at 6:15 PM and Taize at 7 PM. Past EventsAnnual MeetingSunday, January 22, 2012 Please mark your calendar and plan to join us on Sunday, January 22nd for one service at 9 AM followed by the annual meeting. There will be a brunch following the meeting. Haiti Presentation & DinnerSunday, January 15, 2012, 5 pm: Come join us for a good dinner on a winter's night at 5 pm and then a presentation by the Rev. Joan Phelps on her recent mission trip to Haiti. The evening will conclude with an evening service in the Taize style and will have everyone home by 7:30. Transportation may also be available if you can't drive at night. Call the Parish Office at 860.887.4249 for information. Confirmation ClassSunday, January 8, 2012: If you were baptized as a child and are not sure what the next steps in your spiritual journey are, come join us! The Rev. Joan Phelps will be leading the class for our Youth Group, but you are welcome to come and join us. The class will require a dedicated commitment on your part to attend the classes, do the reading and homework and attend an overnight retreat at Camp Washington. Call the Parish Office at 860.887.4249 starting Tuesday, January 4 for the specifics and to sign up. The class will begin on Sunday, January 8 at 11:30 am and will meet every Sunday in January and February. The retreat is the first weekend in March, 2012. CEC Youth 2011September 18 - December 18, 2011: Football, hockey, bowling, breakfasts, community meals, movies, Angel banners and a mystery destinaton Halloween field trip! Good people& Great Fun! Spaghetti Dinner & Christmas Carol Spiritual Open MicSunday, December 18, 2011: The Spaghetti Dinner & Christmas Carol Spiritual Open Mic takes place at Christ Episcopal Church, 78 Washington St, Norwich and begins with Apple Cider & Fellowship at 5 PM, then dinner at 5:15 PM followed by our Open Mic session starting at 6:30 PM. Dinner Menu: Assorted Sauces, Assorted Pasta (including Whole Wheat), and Dessert. Information about Diabetes will be available and a representative of the ADA will be present to help answer any questions. Suggested Donations: $5 Seniors, $7 Adults, $3 Children under age 8, and $20 for families. These are suggested prices, not required! Celticity combines cutting-edge artistry, passion, and a contemporary touch to traditional Celtic music. With a unique blend of instrumental sizzle, vocal beauty, and captivating arrangements, Celticity puts forth an immensely exciting and highly musical performance. Celticity is Sylvie Harris on guitar, Megan Sweeney on flute and piccolo, and Phred Mileski on voice, psaltery, the Bodhran drum, and accordion. Sunday, October 2, 2011: The Blessing of the Animals takes place at 8 AM & 10 AM. To all pets: live, stuffed or pictured: Special note: For small creatures of all kinds cages are indeed welcome. Fish and those among us who might not take well to crowds may want to join us by proxy through a picture or drawing. We have never had an accident in church but should the excitement be too much, equipment will be available for those speedy clean ups. Whatever your species come for the time of your life. Shape up now for the three legged race! Christ Church School of the Arts Welcomes Guitar Instructor Paul DubenetskyIt is our pleasure to introduce CCSArts newest instructor, Paul Dubenetsky. Paul teaches Guitar and Music Theory on Fridays at CCSArts and welcomes students of all ages. Paul has played guitar since the age of nine and has played professionally since the age of thirteen. He has studied at the Woods Music School as well as under such notable teachers as Ron Ciccarelli, former bass player with Ronny Milsap, studied Jazz with Alden Mitchell, and Jazz guitar with Thomas Perrone. He has been teaching for more than ten years and also continues to play out professionally with various Rock, Soul, Jazz, R&B, Blues and wedding bands. He is currently a member of the local group, The Shooting Star band, since 1981. Paul believes that a solid foundation of theory and technique are necessary to all styles of music and can work with a student to develop in the style or genre that they prefer. Get a taste of the Anglican Communion without leaving Norwich! This summer we will sample services from around the globe, including all 4 in our own BCP and 6 from our own alternative service books. We will see the similarities and be amazed at how different words can make God present in new and profound ways. God is a living God and these services will help us experience that fact - and give us a foretaste of that heavenly banquet that waits for us all!
