Ascension Day, Thursday, May 17 2012: A Service for Renewal of Ministry Together with the Installation of The Reverend J. Hugh James as Rector of Christ Episcopal Church. Dinner begins at 5:30 PM with the Service beginning at 7 PM. There will be a Champagne Reception following the Service. Christ Episcopal Church is located at 78 Washington Street, Norwich CT. Sunday, May 6, 2012 @ 3 PM: We were transported to 17th century Italy with recording artist and director of the Princeton Early Keyboard Center, Gavin Black. With the music of Frescobaldi and Storace, performed on a late 17th century Italian harpsichord-a rare listening opportunity indeed! A champagne reception followed the program and audience members will be able to chat with Mr. Black and see the marvelous historical instrument up close. Sunday, March 25, 2012 @ 3 PM: Music in the Key of "G": A Program of New Works by Jesse Nathan Glaude. All programs are Free and open to the public! Champagne reception to follow. Free-will offerings will be accepted to help support the Joanne C. Lillpopp Scholarship Fund: bringing the gift of music to the community. Jesse N. Join us for a Benefit Night of Blues, Fusion & Jazz as it is performed in the unique and acoustically rich interior of Christ Episcopal Church. $7 for adults, $20 for families. The evening concluded with an evening service in the Taize style. Sunday, January 8, 2012: Confirmation Class The Rev. Joan Phelps lead the class. The class required attending classes, doing the reading and homework and attending an overnight retreat at Camp Washington. All proceeds from table rental will go to buying mosquito netting for areas where Malaria is a severe problem. (Learn more Through Episcopal Relief and Development). Christ Church School of the Arts Welcomes Guitar Instructor Paul DubenetskyIt is our pleasure to introduce CCSArts newest instructor, Paul Dubenetsky. Paul teaches Guitar and Music Theory on Fridays at CCSArts and welcomes students of all ages. Paul has played guitar since the age of nine and has played professionally since the age of thirteen. He has studied at the Woods Music School as well as under such notable teachers as Ron Ciccarelli, former bass player with Ronny Milsap, studied Jazz with Alden Mitchell, and Jazz guitar with Thomas Perrone. He is currently a member of the local group, The Shooting Star band, since 1981. Paul believes that a solid foundation of theory and technique are necessary to all styles of music and can work with a student to develop in the style or genre that they prefer.
